During this interactive session you will learn how six Nebraska high schools are partnering with Central Community College (CCC) to offer Mechatronics courses in their schools during the 2020-21 school year. You will also learn how to introduce an awareness of Mechatronics in your STEM classroom. In the session, you will gain a better understanding about Mechatronics – a high skill, high wage, high demand career field which combines electrical, mechanical, and information technology in an automation environment.
This session will describe how CCC’s new National Science Foundation project, the Independent Mechatronics Education Curriculum 2.0 (iMEC 2.0), provides high school educators and their students the opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM curriculum from the CCC Mechatronics program. Attendees will learn about the cost effective lab equipment, educator professional development, and the coordination necessary to offer CCC Mechatronics courses in high schools. We look forward to sharing how this project can lead to an expansion of STEM knowledge and awareness in more Nebraska schools.
